Carmen Jackman is a local artist, born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. She is a former NCAA Division 1 tennis player, having received a full-scholarship to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). From 2012-2015 she served as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity Women’s tennis team at the United States Naval Academy. In 2016, she became interested in art as meditation, with attention to hallucinatory/bizarre forms, topography, detailed patterns/textures, and plant photography. Carmen is currently in the Open Studies program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), with a focus on Ceramic Arts.
